It&#8217;s been finished for a couple of months, but renovations meant I didn&#8217;t have a space large enough to lay it out, and take photos that would do it justice.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"springbouquetcomplete (13)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-13.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t give enough credit to Alison, my long arm quilter.\u00a0 Her work is what makes this quilt\u00a0as extraordinary as it is.\u00a0 She spent many hours, bringing the applique to life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"springbouquetcomplete (3)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-3.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The motifs, like the flowers, are eclectic, with a light-hearted feel.\u00a0 \u00a0 The batting is wool, and it gives a fabulous loft.\u00a0 At the same time, the quilt, despite its size, is very light.\u00a0 If the budget allowed, I&#8217;d do all my quilts with wool!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"springbouquetcomplete (5)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-5.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I bound it with a dark maroon batik, which was one of the fabrics I used for the flowers.\u00a0 I prefer narrow bindings, and this one finishes at 1\/4&#8243;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"springbouquetcomplete (6)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-6.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The quilt size finishes to 74&#8243;.\u00a0 Each of the nine blocks is different, while the borders use the same pattern, but with varied colours.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"springbouquetcomplete (8)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clairemeldrum.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/springbouquetcomplete-8.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve\u00a0started on my next applique project, which I am pleased to report has nowhere near as many pieces.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a new Kim Diehl pattern, which I hope will end up in our master bedroom.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But there&#8217;s no timeline for it, so I&#8217;m going to savour my finish of Spring Bouquet and revel in getting it crossed off my to-finish list!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m very proud to reveal the finished version of Spring Bouquet, the enormous applique project that I worked on through the latter half of 2012 and into 2013.
